Went out to see Mona play their first ever UK show the other night at The Flowerpot in Camden. I suspect, and I know I’m not the only one, that this is a band who are set for big things. They were seriously tight and the singer had an awesome voice. Add to that the fact that I could sing along to just about every song they played having never heard the tracks before, and I think they have a recipe for success. They know how to write a killer hook, that’s for sure. The sound techie wasn’t having his best of days, but I think it says something about the band when they can leave the audience wanting more even with a sub-standard mix.

Got my first ever review of one of my CDs today. Actually, I think it should technically have been yesterday, but we get everything a day late on Guernsey! Anyway, it’s in The Musician which is the quarterly mag for the Musician’s Union and it reviews the Live At Terminal CD which is currently available on iTunes – http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/live-at-terminal/id378610406?ign-mpt=uo%3D4. I wasn’t expecting to see it in there as I was flicking through, so it took me a little by surprise. Thankfully, it was a good review, so the surprise wasn’t a bad one! Unfortunately, it’s not a magazine you can get unless you’re an MU member, so most of you will just have to take my word for it that it was a favourable review! It’s exciting to see bits of progress like this being made though!
