Metal Hammer Golden God Awards 2010

The Metal Hammer Awards last night were fun. I saw some interesting people around the bar and at the after show party, none more so than Joe Elliott, the lead singer from Def Leppard. Also, bumped into an old friend from college, Austin Dickinson, who is the singer for Rise To Remain. They won best new band last night, so well done to them. Airbourne were the headline act and they seriously nailed it. Their singer’s a proper nut case though! Had a chat with their bass player at the party and he was so hammered he couldn’t string two words together! They’re supporting Aerosmith at the O2 tonight, god knows how they’re going to muster the energy to do that, particularly when you see how full on they are as a live band! I guess they get used to though, plus, they’re from Australia, they’ve all bee raised on a diet of beer and just about nothing else!

Writing Sessions

I’m back in London. The writing sessions went reasonably well. We managed to get two songs out of the two days, so, not the most productive sessions, but still, not bad. I think it was hard to write as a full band. When five people are all chucking ideas about it tends to not be such a great idea. I think it’s much easier just writing with one other person, which is exactly what I’ll be doing tomorrow. Got a session with Joe, last time out we were really productive, we wrote three full songs in a day, so, I reckon we’ll get some good stuff out of tomorrow. I’ve already got some ideas to bring to the fold and I know he has some as well, which always helps because we’ll have a starting point. Off to the Metal Hammer Awards tomorrow evening, so, I’m afraid that it’ll be another missed blog! I’m not doing very well at the moment. I apologise, but normal service will resume on Tuesday…I promise!

Writing Session Tomorrow

Heading to Exeter early tomorrow morning (that won’t be much fun) for a writing session with the band. Hopefully we’ll get some good stuff out of it. Unfortunately, I’m, once again, in that rubbish hotel that doesn’t have internet access (I think that’s crazy in this day and age!) so there’ll be no blog tomorrow. Unless, of course, they’ve had wifi installed since I was last there? I doubt it. Staying with Owen on Saturday night. Don’t know if he has internet, but I’m going to assume he does. Back to civilisation (London) on Sunday though, so there’ll be an update then at the very latest.

I’ll be in touch…
